This year’s Nuclear Security Summit (NSS), taking place from March 24th to March 25th in The Hague, is set to become one of first major international summits to entirely ‘paperless.’ The NSS organization team, led by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is leveraging a unique mobile NSS app, developed by real-time publishing platform imgZine, to offer relevant information surrounding the nuclear summit to all delegates and members of the press.

Vision of imgZine’s NSS app

The use of mobile communications at NSS supports the organizers’ goals to host the summit in the most sustainable way. The app will allow them to forgo the need for printed collateral and publications, reducing waste and lowering costs. Aside from its environmental and economic benefits, one of the biggest advantages of the app is that it delivers the most up-to-date information in real-time. The application combines the elegance of a digital magazine with practical functionalities which will allow attendees to access important summit documents and program information. Delegates will also be able book meeting spaces and gain information about the summit’s attendees in a secure environment.

NSS app for press members

Over 3,000 journalists attending the summit will have exclusive access to the NSS app as well. Information about pre-scheduled media briefings and available facilities will be delivered through the app. With this being the largest international summit ever to be held in the Netherlands, an application that could ease the logistical preparations was an absolute necessity.

Daphne Kerremans, Communications Advisor for NSS said: “The NSS organization team is committed to reducing paper waste during the event. It has also been our ambition to host a ‘no-frills’ summit, keeping costs low whenever possible. The NSS app will contribute significantly to these goals. Delegates have also responded to the NSS app with great enthusiasm. We are pleased to make use of innovative technologies to enrich their experience.” “We are proud to see our technology being used at an event of such global significance,” added imgZine’s president Bert Kok.
