Tablet ownership has doubled in the US

19 percent of U.S. adults who use internet now own a tablet, That’s twice the number of adults who owned a tablet last year. The figures were provided in a new report from Forrester Research titled The State of Consumers and Technology: Benchmark 2012, US. Forrester found that consumers aged 24 to 32 are more likely to own a tablet than those aged between 33 and 46, but that those who own a tablet use them at work, home and everywhere in between.

The younger generation of tech users (aged 24 to 32, known as Gen Y), own more connected devices than any other age group, Forrester found. 70 percent of consumers in that group own a smartphone, 25 percent own a tablet and 81 percent own a laptop.

10 percent of U.S. consumers in the ‘Golden Generation’ (older than 68) own a tablet or a smartphone to access the Internet, and those who do use the device at home. A note to Amazon, Samsung, Apple and other tablet makers: there appears to be a huge opportunity for tablet sales in this age group.
